Nigeria crashes Out of Womens U20 world Cup

Nigeria's U20 women football team, Falconets have crashed out of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women's World Cup despite defeating Spain 2-1 in their final group match.

Though, Chinwendu Ihezuo hit the target in the later minutes of the match to secure all three points for Peter Dedevbo’s ladies, they failed to overcome the goal difference deficit.

The Falconets needed all three points as well as an unusual win for Canada in their own game against Japan.
Nigeria needed to score nine unreplied goals to overtake Spain in second place but were unable to achieve such feat.
The Falconets went down after just seven minutes when Alba Redondo hit the target for Spain.
Peter Dedevbo’s ladies responded five minutes later as Charity Reuben nodded down a Nigerian corner before Ihuoma Onyebuchi fired home from inside the penalty area.
Nigeria went ahead twelve minutes from time when Ihezuo slotted home after a defensive mix-up between Carmen Menayo and Marta Cazalla.
Japan finished as Group B winner with six points after a 5-0 thrashing of Canada at the National Football Stadium, Port Moresby while Spain picked the second quarter final slot
